A Very Foodie Town

We're in the middle of the winter edition of Restaurant Week here in the Denver Metro area.  If you've never experienced one where you live, Restaurant Week is an opportunity for chefs to showcase their newest or most delicious and exciting dishes that they want everyone to experience

The restaurants offer a prix fixe menu, featuring multi-course dinners including appetizers and dessert.  They often offer a selection of wine pairings, and may throw in little extras like an amuse-bouche or a palate cleanser in-between courses.  A lot of thought, planning and careful preparation goes into developing the menu, to make it truly representative of the restaurant's offerings, as well as world-class and innovative, all at once.

It has become so popular that the event is now held twice a year, a week in the winter and a week in the summer, to accommodate the growing legion of enthusiastic Colorado foodies!  So popular, in fact, that in addition to participating in the Denver area's Restaurant Week twice a year, Boulder also holds its own week, called First Bite Boulder, in the fall.

The best restaurants are booked solid during each of these weeks, so you do have to make your reservations quickly.  But it is, without question, one of the most fun and delightful ways to dine out during the year.  We frequently run into friends who share our love of good food at various restaurants during these special dining weeks, and the atmosphere is always one of adventure, discovery and celebration.
Denver has one of the largest Restaurant Weeks in the country, with more than 300 metro area restaurants participating.  Luckily, we also happen to have some of the best chefs and restaurants in the entire country, as well.  I've mentioned before that we have one of the most exciting and dynamic restaurant scenes in the world, and Restaurant Week is absolutely one of the best ways to try a few of the new restaurants that are on my list!

The Denver/Boulder area enthusiastically embraced the farm-to-table movement long before it became popular, with many restaurants owning and operating their own local farms.  Cultivating their own fresh produce and ingredients, and hosting specially catered farm dinners in the field, the culinary world here has exploded and become very exciting indeed!  Colorado's wonderful climate, natural lifestyle, and abundance of locally grown food, has everyone taking notice of what our chefs are bringing to the table!

This is truly the best of the best.  We are so lucky to live in a place that celebrates food, life, and natural ingredients as passionately as we do here.  We encourage you to check out the local food scene where you live, and find the best your town has to offer, too!
Colorado’s restaurants embodied the locally grown, fresh-food movement long before it was popular, and rest of the world has finally started to notice what our chefs are bringing to the table. We asked one of the most celebrated, who has his own farm to supply his restaurant's menu, why he thinks Colorado is fast becoming a hot spot for young chefs and foodies who love the natural life. - See more at: http://www.colorado.com/articles/colorado-farm-table-restaurants-qa-organic-chef#sthash.2ml5QG4B.dpuf
