Waiting for Bébé

After a long, hard winter, there is nothing sweeter than the arrival of spring.  Each year we look forward to the return of life to the bare branches, the re-greening of the lawns, and the flowering of the first blooms of spring.

This is the time of year that our thoughts turn to new life and re-birth, and baby showers seem as prevalent as all of the tiny new buds popping up everywhere around us.

It had been many years since we had thrown a baby shower in our family.  But we're expecting a new addition any day now, so we just recently had the chance to do so.

We knew it would be a tea party our favorite way to entertain but we wanted to find some fresh, new ideas for the theme and decor.

Thank goodness for Pinterest!

We were inspired by many of the great ideas on people's bulletin boards for the decor as well as some fun activities for the party.  And then it was time to dust off our rusty, old crafts skills.

We decided to go with a French theme for the shower, just for fun, so we had lots of eiffel towers and a beret-wearing bébé appearing throughout.

There were blessings posted for the baby and parents, there were the French names for baby items to match up with their English names, guessing whether the baby will be a boy or a girl (we still don't know yet), guessing the date of the baby's arrival (we're still waiting), and we even offered the mom- and dad-to-be our suggestions for some possible French names for the baby.

We even made our first "Diaper Cake" ever (who invented these things, anyway?)!

The shower was a lot of fun, and we certainly can't wait for the arrival of the new member of the family so we can meet that new baby ...

I mean, "le bébé!"

Blessings for the baby!
Welcome!
