Easter Cakes

We were just talking about what a happy time of year it is ... we've been getting some beautifully warm days announcing that spring is upon us, and some nice little rain showers to wake up the grass and bulbs.  We love this time of year!

Truth is, we love every season for its own unique beauty and qualities, but spring always does bring a smile to our hearts.  It reminds us to be hopeful and cheerful.

We enjoyed playing in the snow and appreciated the serene beauty of the stark landscape, but we are ready to welcome back the sun, the rain, the birds and the flowers.  It's time!

Another thing that makes this time of year so happy is remembering all of the lovely and playful spring cakes we would make at Afternoon Tea each year.

There were lots of lambs and bunnies and Easter baskets and flowers.  There were Easter eggs, pretty ribbons and bows, and even Bugs Bunny.  We took the opportunity to decorate with lots of Easter candy so the cakes were fun and everyone would get a special treat!

It's too bad we didn't have camera phones back in the day, because we barely took any photos at all of all the lovely cakes and baskets we made.  When I think of the countless cakes that went out the doors of Afternoon Tea, it does make me wish we had taken more pictures.  We'll never get those moments back again, but we have a few to remind us.
